FAQs

You have Questions? We have Answers!

  • Where does the name “Karis” come from?
Karis is a Greek word meaning “grace.” This name was chosen because Karis Integrative Medicine works hard to spread grace and truly base all our care in it. It is also because of the huge amount of grace our patients bring into our lives. Karis also means “curry” in Estonian, but we don’t talk about that. *Shhhhh*
  • Is Karis Integrative Medicine really the best clinic this side of Alaska?
We think so! Our approach to your healthcare incorporates the whole you to better your physical, mental, and spiritual health. Make a appointment and you will soon see yourself!
  • Can I ask my provider questions without having to make an appointment?
If you have been previously seen at Karis Integrative Medicine, you can contact your provider at any time through your Patient Portal. However, new patients will have to meet with our providers face-to-face.
  • What is the difference between standard and functional medicine?
While standard medicine tends to compartmentalize patients into individual parts, functional medicine views the body as one whole person.
  • What if I don’t want to change my lifestyle? Will functional medicine providers give me medications?
While our Karis Providers will prescribe medications if needed, their focus is on improving their patients overall health. While medications can be beneficial in the right circumstances, they will not always address your health concerns.
  • What if I want to be seen for something small like a cough or a sore throat? Can I still be seen at Karis?
Absolutely! While many of our patients have long-term chronic conditions, there are also many with minor conditions or injuries that we see. If you have questions about a specific condition, call us at (907)-203-0044.
